APEG/BVBO (Association Professionnelle des Entreprises de Gardiennage asbl - Beroepsvereniging van Bewakingsondernemingen vzw) was founded in 1971 and represents the major private guarding companies today. APEG/BVBO defends the interests of the sector and is aimed to improve the market position of its members, mainly by informing them of the added value of the sector, stopping and reacting against unfair competition and encouraging selection procedures on a quality basis. APEG/BVBO's members represent over 90% of the Belgian guarding sector and combined, they employ over 90% of all people active within the sector. APEG/BVBO is an active member of the Confederation of European Security Services (CoESS). APEG/BVBO is currently looking to recruit a Policy Officer. The Policy Officer will be responsible for providing an overall support to the General Secretary of APEG/BVBO and for specific support in the field of lobbying, preparation and follow-up of meetings, contacts with national authorities and providing daily assistance to the members of APEG/BVBO.
Reporting to the General Secretary APEG/BVBO, the main responsibilities of this role will include:
- Development and maintenance of contacts with national authorities and lobbying to defend the interests of the members;
- Assistance in the development and maintenance of relations with various media;
- Assistance in the drafting and management of the publication of the annual report, the periodical newsletter, reports and all other communication-related documents;
- Management of events (seminars, conferences, etc.), including their preparation, organisation and follow up;
- Maintenance of the APEG/BVBO website;
- Preparation and follow up of meetings and providing daily assistance to APEG/BVBO members;
- Representing APEG/BVBO in national meetings.
The successful candidate has a Master degree in Law, Political and Social Sciences, Communication, Criminology, Economics or equivalent by a first relevant professional experience, combined with an interest in and/or an affinity with professional associations. Fluency in Dutch and French is required. A good operational knowledge of English is necessary. IT literacy is a must.
The ideal candidate is a flexible, hands-on, autonomous and well-organised team player. He/she demonstrates good communication skills and takes initiatives. In addition, he/she displays a dynamic & proactive as well as stress-resistant working attitude and is able handle a heavy workload.
