Senior Accountant (Sustainability Sector)

A new job of Senior Accountant has just become available for an internal company in the sector of Sustainability in the Center of Brussels. You will join the Global Finance Services within a team of 10 colleagues in Belgium and play a pivotal role in supporting and implementing the accounting shared services organization as well as in ensuring high-quality financial services and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Main Tasks as Senior Accountant :

• You ensure the accuracy in financial data and proper accounting procedures. This includes posting of entries, handle month-end and year-end close processes, including internal controls and validation processes.
• You prepare accurate and timely monthly IFRS financial statements, as a team effort in collaboration with the Business Operations Support teams.
• You ensure compliance with IFRS accounting standards, internal controls, prepare documentation for internal and external audits as well as for funding reporting.
• You prepare accurate and timely annual statutory financial statements, coordinate and consolidate statutory budget and forecasts in close collaboration with Business Partners
• You prepare tax filings and reporting in coordination with the TAX team.
• You make sure accounting reflects business reality by connecting to the business; invest in understanding industry-specific accounting implications; beware of new contracts, investments or restructuring that could impact financial reporting
• You participate in the review, optimization, automation and digitalization of processes. Support improvement projects by bringing ideas, sharing expertise, assisting in testing applications and providing feedback and white smoke
• You participate in end-to-end projects: setup requirements, meet project milestones, testing and implementation.

Profile of the Senior Accountant :

• A Bachelor or Master degree in Accounting, Finance, or economics;

• You have a strong technical background in accounting and have at least 5 years’ experience of accounting process operating requirements. You hold knowledge of Belgian GAAP, knowledge of French GAAP is a strong plus.
• You are fluent in English. Knowledge of Dutch and/or French are an asset.
• You have strong analytical skills, organized and detail minded, capable of analysing numerical data, able to challenge and improve processes, implementing practical solutions.
• Your enthusiasm and positive mindset is not compromised when it comes to meeting deadlines, performing under pressure and addressing challenges.
• Curiosity, ownership and critical mindset are part of your DNA.
• You are a team player and good communicator, able to influence colleagues in- and outside your team, you demonstrate a high degree of cultural-awareness.
