Senior GL Accountant with company car

A company active in the automotive sector, is currently looking to hire a Senior GL Accountant to join their offices in the region of Evere and help the company in its growth. The Senior accountant is responsible for the correct and complete processing of the monthly and yearly closing conform Belgian GAAP, IFRS and corporate policy and for the timely delivery of the validated figures.

Your main responsibilities as the Senior GL Accountant:

• Responsible for the monthly closing of the balance sheet and P&L
• Calculate and process accruals based on information received from other departments or reporting sources and in accordance with Belgian GAAP, IFRS and business policies.
• Look at the outcome in a critical way, taken into account (monthly) evolutions.
• Check all the accounts for which he/she is responsible.
• Look constantly for optimizing the closing process
• Is in direct contact with the different business units for whom the accountant is in charge
• Knows the underlying process that steers the income/cost.
• Takes up issues or outstanding actions during the month in a proactive way.
• Adapts changes in the accounting process in accordance with the company’s guidelines.
• Responsible for the balance sheet and P&L reconciliation:
• Correct validation of the assets and liabilities during a monthly balance sheet reconciliation.
• Follow up and take actions on outstanding aged debts and receivables.
• Reconciliation of the different systems that are linked to the accounting process
• Responsible for treasury management
• Monthly cash forecast update
• Weekly execution of payments to suppliers
• Involvement in financial projects

Your profile as Senior GL Accountant:

• Degree in accountancy (master or bachelor)
• At least 5 years proven experience in tax and statutory accounting (by preference in multinational environments)
• Fluent speaking/writing in English and French or Dutch
• Experience with multiple IT systems
• IFRS Knowledge
• Ability to work independently.
• Continuously looking for efficiencies in way of working
• Good communication and persuasion skills
• Hands-on mentality & Stress resistant
