Purchasing Manager
An industrial company based in Wallonia is currently looking for a motivated Purchasing Manager to strengthen its Purchasing team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a strategic procurement function while driving supplier performance, team development, and sustainability initiatives within a dynamic and collaborative environment.
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for:
- Keep direct responsibility for several strategic suppliers, ensuring efficient operational follow-up and proactive collaboration.
- Lead and develop the purchasing team, set clear goals and monitor measurable KPIs to drive performance.
- Negotiate contracts and terms to achieve the best balance between cost, quality, delivery and working capital objectives.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with production, R&D and financial targets through enhanced Sales & Operations Planning.
- Ensure systems and processes (ERP+) are properly configured, maintained and improved for continuous efficiency.
- Monitor supplier performance, implement corrective actions and strengthen vendor relationships to secure reliability and continuous improvement.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks by organizing minimum dual sourcing based on clear standard specifications for all (critical) components combined with contingency planning.
- Collaborate with R&D and suppliers to develop innovative, sustainable solutions aligned with the company’s 2030 carbon reduction goals.
- Liaise with other entities to leverage group-level purchasing power and perform on-site supplier assessments.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and ethical practices.
Profile of ideal Purchasing Manager:
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
- You have at least 5 years of experience in industrial purchasing or supply chain management.
- You are fluent in English and French; any additional language is an asset.
- You have solid knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite; understanding of manufacturing processes is a plus.
- You demonstrate strategic thinking, hands-on leadership, and a collaborative mindset.
- You possess excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
