Head of Corporate Accounting

You will report directly to the Group Director Accounting & Finance Operations, playing a vital part in shaping and enhancing the company's financial operations. This position offers significant opportunities for growth, development, and meaningful impact within the organisation.
Some of your responsibilities:
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes while ensuring accurate reconciliations, provisions, accruals, and journal entries.
- Deliver timely and high-quality financial reporting for local accounting (BGAAP) and group purposes (IFRS).
- Optimize key operational processes such as expense notes, accounts payable, cost reporting, and treasury back-office to improve efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies while supporting regulatory reporting teams.
- Prepare statutory accounts and coordinate audits with external auditors.
- Manage a team of 5 professionals across general ledger, AP/AR, fixed assets, etc., fostering a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate closely with Consolidation, Treasury, Investment teams, Tax, and HR departments to align financial strategies and provide technical accounting advice.
- Respond to ad-hoc queries from senior management, external auditors, or regulators promptly.
- Provide guidance on BEGAAP and IFRS accounting policies while contributing to various projects that enhance financial operations or compliance efforts.
Your profile
- You have a bachelor or master’s degree in Finance or Business administration;
- You have at least 7 years relevant working experience within the financial services sector (experience within the insurance sector is a plus), including experience in managing a small team.
- You have a good knowledge of accounting both under Belgian GAAP and IFRS, supplemented with specialized knowledge in the following areas: insurance accounting (under IFRS17), hedge accounting and impairment analysis (IFRS9)
- Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Netsuite, SAP, Onestream) is a plus. You have strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
- You are proactive, take initiative and show willingness to learn
- You are a team player and able to work independently
- You are fluent in English and in French/Dutch
