Interim Logistics & Operations Manager

Save job

We are seeking an Interim (Freelance) Logistics & Operations Manager on behalf of one of our clients in the retail sector, for a 6 month assignment, located in the region of Wavre. This role is designed to support their Supply Chain Director during a transitional period of six months. The assignment will play a critical role in ensuring operational continuity and driving improvements during this phase of transformation.

Role Overview:

As an Interim Logistics & Operations Manager, you will work closely with the client’s Supply Chain Director to structure, optimize, and secure all aspects of the supply chain—from goods reception to final customer delivery. You will be instrumental in supporting ongoing projects such as the migration to Odoo ERP and the implementation of an S&OP process while ensuring day-to-day operations run smoothly.

This is a hands-on role that requires leadership skills, operational expertise, and the ability to drive performance improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Manage logistics operations including warehouse activities, inventory management, and order preparation/dispatch processes.
  • Optimize warehouse organization (flows, picking strategies, kits/packs).
  • Ensure robust processes for order preparation and shipping accuracy.

Process Improvement & Performance Management:

  • Establish clear, measurable processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Define, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics, inventory, and transportation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across all operational processes.

ERP & Data Management:

  • Act as the operational lead for Odoo ERP logistics workflows.
  • Contribute to improving data reliability within the ERP system.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of the S&OP process.

Team Coordination & Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Provide guidance and support to operational teams (warehouse staff and stock/ERP coordinators).
  • Collaborate closely with Customer Service, Transport teams, IT departments, and external partners (e.g., 3PL providers).
  • Monitor transport performance and improve shipment traceability.

Your Profile:

  • Experience: Minimum 8–10 years of proven experience in logistics/supply chain/operations management roles; prior experience with ERP migrations is highly desirable (Odoo knowledge is a major plus).
  • Education: Advanced degree in industrial engineering or logistics/supply chain management preferred.
  • Skills: Strong background in process optimization, team management, data analysis, and KPI tracking; excellent problem-solving abilities with a pragmatic approach to challenges.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively through change while fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Languages: Fluent French; professional proficiency in English required.
  • Attributes: Autonomous, structured, results-oriented mindset with a hands-on approach.
