Are you an experienced Finance Business Partner with a passion for innovation and life sciences? Do you enjoy partnering with senior stakeholders, influencing strategic investment decisions, and supporting the development of breakthrough therapies? argenx is looking for a Finance Business Partner R&D to join its growing Finance team in Ghent. In this highly visible role, you will work closely with R&D, TechOps/CMC and asset development teams, providing financial insights that support key business decisions across the drug development lifecycle. You will join a high-performing Finance team of seven professionals within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment. This position has become available following an internal promotion, highlighting the strong career development opportunities within argenx.

Your responsibilities as Finance Business Partner R&D

  • Partner with R&D, TechOps/CMC and asset development teams to provide strategic financial guidance.
  • Translate development plans and pipeline milestones into budgets, forecasts and scenario analyses.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning activities for assigned functions.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Develop financial models and ensure accurate tracking of R&D activities and external vendor spend.
  • Deliver dashboards, KPIs and financial analyses to support business decisions and portfolio prioritisation.
  • Represent Finance during programme reviews and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support process improvements, automation initiatives and AI-driven efficiencies.

About you

  • 8+ years of experience in FP&A, financial planning & analysis or finance business partnering within biotech, pharmaceutical or life sciences environments.
  • Strong understanding of R&D operations and drug development activities.
  • Proven experience managing complex budgets, forecasts and accruals.
  • Proficiency with ERP and EPM systems as well as advanced financial modelling.
  • Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related discipline; CPA, CIMA or CFA is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and business partnering skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Curious, proactive and hands-on, with a pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable working independently while building strong relationships across the organisation.
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment that values accountability, innovation and continuous learning.
