Legal Counsel

Robert Walters is currently looking for a Legal Counsel to strengthen its Northern Europe legal team. This role is based in Amsterdam and offers the opportunity to contribute to the further centralisation of legal and contractual knowledge and to the ongoing optimisation of the legal function.

You will be part of an international legal team covering Northern Europe, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. Your primary focus will be on advising and supporting the business in the Netherlands and Belgium.

What you will do:

As a Legal Counsel at Robert Walters, you will play a crucial role in supporting and facilitating the organization and its employees regarding contracts and (changing) laws and regulations. In this role, you are expected to monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the recruitment sector and to proactively advise the business on their impact, required changes and associated risks. You will play an important role in safeguarding and maintaining compliance, including ensuring that internal policies, processes and contract templates remain up to date and fit for purpose.

Further your daily tasks include drafting and maintaining standard contracts, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, contributing to international RFIs and RFPs, managing the contract management system, providing practical legal advice to the business, and delivering in house legal training to promote awareness and compliance across the organisation.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Legal Counsel role at Robert Walters has at least 5 years of relevant work experience as a lawyer or in‑house legal counsel. You have solid experience with a broad range of commercial contracts and have experience in, or a strong affinity for, the recruitment industry.

Because this role covers a large part of our international network with a focus in Belgium, Belgium qualified lawyers / in house counsels who are open to move to Amsterdam can also apply for this position.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience within the Legal field (Dutch law degree or Belgium law degree)
• Experience with a wide range of commercial contracts.
• Experience in or affinity with the recruitment industry.
• Excellent advisory skills with a pragmatic business approach.
• A pragmatic business mindset and proactive attitude.
• Fluent in Dutch. German and English, both spoken and written.
