For many organisations, the evolution of the financial market and the positioning and integration of ESG standards will further fuel the demand for financial professionals with sector-specific technical skills. Almost every organisation within banking and financial services is looking for proactive and resilient talent with strong interpersonal skills, strong business acumen and the ability to continuously support process improvement initiatives.
Özlem Simsek, managing director at international recruitment specialist Robert Walters, comments: "Hence, for banking & insurance professionals, upskilling is a great way to map out their career path and stay competitive in this dynamic market."
Research by Robert Walters shows that Brussels takes the lead in the number of advertised vacancies within banking & insurance (20%), followed by Antwerp (19%), West and East Flanders (both 14%), and Flemish Brabant (10%).
Furthermore, the survey reveals that professionals within this sector stay with the same employer for an average of 2.9 years. However, this stability contrasts with the fact that 59% of professionals plan to change jobs this year. This shows that despite the stability offered by a permanent contract, professionals strive for a career that matches their evolving ambitions and expectations. Challenging and interesting work is cited as the main reasons for changing jobs, followed by inspiring colleagues and excellent remuneration.
Banking and insurance professionals appear to have a fairly optimistic view of their job prospects: more than half (52%) of professionals surveyed by Robert Walters are confident that they will quickly find a new professional opportunity in the coming months.
