2025 hiring trends in administration

The demand for skilled administrative professionals in Belgium is set to remain robust in 2025. By aligning their skills with market needs—especially in high-demand sectors —job seekers can seize opportunities in both permanent and temporary roles.

"In 2025, administrative roles will not only be about support. They will be the backbone of operational efficiency, requiring a blend of technical skills and adaptability”, says Stephanie Cnops, principal at recruitment specialist Robert Walters. She shares her insights in job market trends and salary evolutions in the administration field for 2025.

Most in-demand administration professionals in 2025

  • Administrative Assistant

  • Office Manager

  • Management Assistant

Key sectors driving demand

In 2025, the demand for administrative roles in Belgium is particularly strong in sectors such as construction, real estate, law practices, consulting companies, HR services, financial services, transport, and logistics. Stephanie: “These industries rely heavily on skilled professionals to manage the growing complexities of their operations. Administrative support, including reception, management support, and legal support, plays a critical role in maintaining smooth day-to-day functions.”

Balancing flexibility and continuity

“Both permanent and temporary roles are in demand, with temporary positions gaining traction as businesses in the abovementioned sectors increasingly seek flexibility,” Stephanie knows. “In particular, law practices and consulting companies are prioritizing permanent administrative roles to ensure continuity, while sectors like transport and logistics benefit from a flexible, temporary workforce that can adapt to fluctuating demand.”

A changing skillset

Administrative roles are increasingly integrating advanced tools and technologies, including AI and automation. Professionals with expertise in software such as Microsoft 365, customer relationship management (CRM) platforms, and data analytics tools are in high demand. Stephanie highlights: “In 2025, administrative roles are transforming beyond traditional tasks. They are pivotal to operational success, requiring a combination of strong technical proficiency and the adaptability to thrive in dynamic, fast-evolving environments.”

Furthermore, language proficiency is a cornerstone of success in Belgium's administrative job market, particularly in Flanders, where no less than 80% of all administrative vacancies in 2024 were located. Multilingual professionals who excel in Dutch, French, and English are in particular high demand.

Retention challenges

With a high demand for administration professionals and an average tenure of only 1.4 years, organizations in Belgium face stiff competition to attract and retain administrative talent. “Offering a competitive salary alone is no longer sufficient. Companies must provide a comprehensive and enticing package, including flexible work arrangements, clear career progression opportunities, and access to professional development programs. These additional benefits not only help differentiate employers in a tight labor market but also build long-term engagement and trust with administrative teams,” Stephanie concludes.
