Interim Global BIS Finance Lead

We are seeking an Interim Global BIS Finance Lead to join a large pharmaceutical company in Ghent. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of financial operations and technology. This assignment is for 1 year, maybe longer.

As the Interim Global BIS Finance Lead, you will be the single point of accountability for strategy and implementation of data, processes, and systems that address the needs of our Finance organization. You will work closely with senior leaders, technology teams, and service providers to ensure operational effectiveness, compliance, and scalability. Your contributions will directly support our mission to deliver life-changing therapies to patients worldwide.

The Interim Global BIS Finance Lead’s key responsibilities include:

• Build strong relationships across all levels of the Finance organization and with external service providers to deliver impactful solutions.
• Define governance processes, oversee project portfolios, and manage resources to achieve business outcomes that enhance global financial operations.
• Collaborate with technology vendors, consultants, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to implement process improvements and technology solutions aligned with organizational goals.
• Ensure seamless integration of Oracle and third-party systems within a consistent technology architecture to support current processes and future growth.
• Partner with Finance leads to define strategies, prioritize BIS services, and contribute to achieving jointly defined business outcomes.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory requirements (e.g., SOX, IFRS), and market developments to anticipate the evolving needs of the Finance function.
• Manage support services by monitoring SLAs, addressing escalations, and ensuring timely resolution of issues.

Your profile:

We are looking for a candidate who brings:

• A degree in Information Technology or Finance (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• At least 15 years of experience in technology roles supporting finance functions.
• Proven track record of implementing Oracle technology solutions in finance on a global scale.
• You have a deep understanding of the finance landscape, including accounting, FP&A, tax, internal controls, reporting, treasury, supply chain execution, and T&E.
• Knowledge of global regulatory requirements such as SOX and IFRS.
• Advanced expertise in Oracle technologies relevant to finance functions
• Familiarity with third-party systems like Kyriba, Workiva, Concur, Appzen, and Fastpath is a plus.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing geographically distributed teams in an outsourced environment.
