Accountant - medical sector

For an international organization within the medical sector based in Ghent, we are looking for an experienced Accountant to support the financial management of the Belgian operations. In this varied role, you will take broad responsibility for a range of financial and accounting processes.

Your responsibilities:

• You will manage the full accounting cycle (A to Z) for the Belgian entity and its related holding structure.
• You will be responsible for both general and analytical accounting, ensuring the accuracy and quality of financial data.
• You will act as the main point of contact for accounting and financial matters within the organization.
• You will handle monthly and annual closings and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• You will prepare annual accounts and various statutory and tax filings, including VAT, Intrastat and statistical reporting.
• You will monitor outstanding receivables and payables and process payments and payroll-related accounting entries.
• You will work closely with external partners and advisors on tax matters, subsidies and other financial topics.
• You will support the annual audit process and act as a key contact during financial audits.
• You will contribute to budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, helping to identify and explain deviations from financial targets.
• You will perform balance sheet reconciliations and controls, ensuring that discrepancies are identified and followed up appropriately.
• You will actively contribute to the improvement and optimization of financial processes, systems and procedures, working closely with the corporate finance team.

About you:

• You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• You have at least 10 years of relevant experience in accounting.
• You have a strong knowledge of general and analytical accounting.
• Experience in an international or corporate environment is considered an advantage.
• You have an excellent command of Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
• You have strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.
• You are independent, proactive and solution-oriented, while also being a strong team player.
• You are able to set priorities and maintain a high level of accuracy, even when working under tight deadlines.
• You are IT-minded and comfortable working with ERP systems and Excel.
